Good for you! You are showing the signs of a responsible owner and your dog will benefit greatly from the care and attention you will be paying to its needs. A Husky will experience many of the same issues any other larger breed of dog will experience so becoming familiar with their activity is a straight forward process.

Always remember that you have two great resources for advice and assistance in raising your Siberian Husky puppies in your breeder and your vet. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need advice, or you just do not know what to do, you can call either one of these folks and get some solid advice.
You will notice right away that Siberian Husky puppies are active and aggressive little guys that literally do not know when to stop when it comes to play and that play can get very rough at times. This rough play is why many breeders suggest you do not get Siberian Husky puppies if you have small children. Young puppies sometimes just do not know when to stop and small children can get hurt. So you may want to consider that if you have small children and you want a Siberian Husky puppy.

Siberian Husky puppies were bred to survive the winters of Siberia so their coat is very thick and they shed a great deal. You do not need to cut their coat or trim it at all but you do need to comb and brush their coat frequently. They enjoy the occasional bath as well but make sure you use dog shampoo and not human shampoo as there is a huge difference especially to Siberian Husky fur and skin.
As soon as you get them home you will notice right away that SiberianHusky puppies love to eat but at their age it is extremely important to set good eating habits and that includes feeding them once a day and making sure there are no leftovers sitting around for them to eat. Over eating is a huge problem for Siberian Husky puppies and if they develop bad habits when they are young then they can carry them into adulthood so be careful.

The Siberian Husky is a loyal pet but they are a handful and if you have no experience in owning dogs then you may not want to make Siberian Husky puppies your first jump into dog ownership. They require a lot of the right kind of care and attention and in many ways are dogs that should only be owned by experienced owners that know exactly what they need to do to raise healthy dogs.

This article offers helpful information about raisingSiberian Husky puppies. In addition, you will also notice that Siberian Husky puppies to be easy going and generally very docile. Siberian Husky puppies are also very energetic and they are good when in the company of children and they will readily become friends even with complete strangers.
Generally, the Siberian Husky puppy is a very intelligent animal and is easily given to being trained, though because of its extremely friendly nature it is not well suited as a watch dog. Firstly, it does not bark much and secondly, it will generally love everyone he comes into contact with. While training Siberian Husky puppies, you will often notice the tendency of the puppy to show its own will and mind and generally only obeys commands that seem sensible to him. Thus, you need to be patient when training him and also remember that you need to be consistent and understanding of his faults.

Other than that, don’t be surprised if you hear the Siberian Husky puppy howl (which he likes to do) and he is also easily bored, and won’t like being left alone, which means owning a pair of Siberian Husky puppies would not be a bad idea at all. Left by himself, the Siberian Husky puppy can become extremely destructive and at heart he is also a sled dog which makes them behave well, even when in the company of other pets.
A noticeable facet to theSiberian Husky puppy is his relative lack of need to eat bowlfuls of food, and is less than voracious when it comes to putting down whole meals. In fact, the puppy is frugal when it comes to eating and will easily be satisfied with less food than is the case with other medium sized breeds. However, he will spend a lot of time in exploring his surroundings and being active; will require being taken out for exercising for an hour in the day. Unless he is especially well trained in obeying your every command, it is not wise to let Siberian Husky puppies to be taken out without being leashed because he may easily wander off somewhere without coming back to you.

In addition, he likes the cold climates and will not relish being left in the sunlight and in fact must be given a shady place where he can play and rest, and even an air conditioned room may be required to keep him comfortable and happy. Even though, generally, Siberian Husky puppies do not fall ill too easily, it is still necessary to check that he does not have hip dysplasia, or juvenile cataract or other common diseases that may affect him.

This article hopefully will provide you with insights regardingSiberian Husky puppies and their various characteristics, temperament and traits. Many dog breeders advertise their puppies on websites like Next Day Pets or Breeders. NET. These are the websites where you can find quality breeders looking for loving homes for their puppies. The websites do not take any responsibility of the puppies. No puppies are prescreened and there is no guarantee for the breeders listed either. So you definitely need references before you make a purchase from any of these websites.

Since it is relatively easy to find a new Siberian Husky puppy for sale on the net, it is important for you to decide if a soft and warm Siberian Husky puppy is the right pet for your family. These websites have lists of various dogs of the same breed, kennels, adult dogs and plenty of information and pictures of all of them.
If you decide to choose a dog breeder who is selling Siberian Husky puppies, you definitely need to meet him. Therefore, look in the list right from the beginning, where the breeders are from, so that you can choose the breeders closest to where you live. It is then your responsibility to evaluate the dog breeder and make your decision after obtaining the necessary information from the dog breeder. The websites also do not play any part in the purchase transaction, but strongly recommend that a purchase contract be signed before any money is transferred.

When there is a Siberian Husky puppy for sale, the breeder should mention in the advertisement how he has got the puppies ready to go into new homes. They should be vet checked, vaccinated, wormed and socialized. Some breeders are even ready to give a five-year health guarantee, because the puppies have received their first dose of preventatives already.
The pictures of theSiberian Husky puppy for sale give a clear idea about the color of its coat and sometimes even videos are shown. If the puppy has been bred at home, it must have undergone temperament testing and the other health tests. These details are often mentioned in the advertisement.

Other details include breed registrations, the parents of the puppy, especially if they have won any championships. Also pet supplies are mentioned sometimes, so that the useful stuff that you immediately need for the new pet can be bought there. These could include articles like crates, beds or toys and even dog food.

Besides, the dog breeder often likes to know the particulars of the prospective buyer. The puppy should be loved and cared in the same way as it is with the dog breeder, and grow up as a part of the family. So, he has the right to ask you his questions, so that he is satisfied that the puppy is going into a well-loved home.

The dog breeders give a lot of importance to the health of theSiberian Husky puppies, because that is what the prospective buyer is looking for. If you are looking for siberian Husky puppy supplies, this article is ideal for you.

Siberian Husky Puppies For Sale: Avoid Scams

Now that you have finally made the decision to start looking at different Siberian Husky puppies for sale in order to find the new addition to your home and family, you need to educate yourself on the pros and cons to the different places in which you can find puppies. While they may seem all on the up and up, there may be such major warning signs to watch out for.

By just taking that little bit of extra time and thought, you are going to be able to get the deal that you deserve and you will not be taken advantage of. By asking yourself a few quick questions while you are looking at the puppies or the dealer, you may very well be able to catch onto something that just does not appear to be right and you can either walk away and find someone else or if the case calls for it, report them to the proper authorities.
If looking to the Internet to find Siberian Husky puppies for sale there are several factors that you need to consider. The fact of the matter is that for every good breeder that is on the Internet, there are probably ten more who are looking to scam you. It is very possible that you are not being given all of the information you need in order to make an informed decision.

When looking at breeders who are too far away for you to travel to them, you really are not aware of what their current living situation is. You have no way of telling whether or not they are truly being taken care of. While the Internet is full of a lot of options that you may not have in your local area right at the moment, it may be vital to wait until there is a breeder with pups available in your area so you can go view them for yourself.
When looking forSiberian Husky puppies for sale, you may end up finding yourself looking through the glass widows at your local pet shop. And while they may have a lot of cute puppies for sale, they generally do not carry a lot of Husky puppies throughout the year. But if you find one, you may be considering yourself lucky. Make sure you get to play with the puppy before purchasing it and see how it interacts with you.

Even though you are able to see the puppy in person, just like the Internet you still do not really have a great idea about the puppy's past or where and how it grew up. If the puppy was abused, you may have no signs of it until it is already in your home and it is too late. Purchasing a puppy from a pet store can be a great thing if you move ahead with caution.

When looking atSiberian Husky puppies for sale, it is important to take your time and look the puppies over really well. When glancing at the many puppies for sale, it is vital to keep in mind that their priorSiberian Husky puppy care should be considered.

Lists Of Siberian Husky Breeders

Before you purchase a Siberian Husky puppy, check out the lists of Siberian Husky breeders and interview them, so that you can get some knowledge about the dog breed standards. A good Siberian Husky breeder will not sell his puppy to the first buyer who knocks at his door. He will ask you specific questions. He may want to know why you want a Siberian Husky puppy or he may even ask you to provide information or give veterinary reference for the pets that you already possess.

No organization takes responsibility for the breeders and it is up to the buyer to investigate and choose a breeder when looking for a purebred puppy. A good breeder will give a guarantee for his puppy because he has a commitment to his profession, as his reputation counts. Ask around and inform yourself before you choose a breeder from whom you take a puppy. But you should be able to get the history of the puppy to make sure of its good breeding. Also, breeders are always ready to help you by giving tips and later could even agree to help you train the puppy, so that you can always keep in touch with him.
Therefore a good Siberian Husky breeder is a better place to buy your Siberian Husky puppy than a pet shop. The aim of a breeder is to enhance the breed by improving the temperament and genetic qualities in it. These objectives are not present in the pet shop owners who are only interested in selling their dogs.

When a buyer goes to a pet shop to buy a Siberian Husky pup, he is not asked any questions about his knowledge of the breed. The pet shop is only interested in selling its dogs, and once it has sold the Siberian Husky pup at a handsome price to you, he does not even care what happens to the dog after you buy it.

But a Siberian Husky breeder would definitely expect the prospective buyer to know something about the breed and quiz him about it. He will render the missing information to his clients like assuring them that the Siberian Husky is not a guard dog or that it has a high prey instinct. If you are not satisfied with the puppy that you take from the breeder, you can even take it back to him.
TheSiberian Husky breeder has much more knowledge about the dog than a pet shop owner, who is dealing with a variety of pets. After all, the pet shop owner is not a dog breeder; he is buying dogs from the cheapest supplier. Often the parents of the puppies which are supplied to the pet stores have not been screened for any genetic diseases. At the moment there is a list of health problems which are becoming common in Siberians, because the breeders are not taking care to screen their animals before breeding.

Most owners are not very concerned about show quality, working quality or genetically tested dogs. All Siberian Huskies are not show dogs or working dogs. But if you are a genuine lover of purebred dogs, quality will be of importance and the breed will improve if care is taken during breeding. There will be fewer genetic problems and temperament disorders, if you rely on a good dog breeder and just not buy a Siberian Husky off the shelf in a pet shop.

Siberian Husky breeders are well known for their knowledge of the breed. They take special care of the dogs, unlike the pet shops, who only sell the dogs and then do not take any responsibility of them. Comparison between breeders and pet shops regardingSiberian Husky information can be found in this article.

Siberian Husky Breeders To Be Wary Of

You have made the decision to get a Siberian Husky and of course the next logical decision to make is to find a good Siberian husky breeder. Finding a good Siberian husky breeder is not only the next decision it could be one of the most important decisions in your dog's life so make sure you cover all of your bases and learn which kind of Siberian husky breeders to avoid. It is important to know what resources you should be calling on in order to narrow down your breeder search and here are just some of the places you should look.

Any reputable breeder will be listed with a national breeder registry. The registry sets the breeding standards that the breeder follows and if they do not have a listing with a breeder registry then it makes you wonder what standards they are using. Ask if they are listed with a registry and if they are not the question why they made that choice.
In the life of your pet no third party will be more important to their health and welfare than their vet. Discuss with your vet the choices you are considering for a Siberian husky breeder and see if any red flags come up with your vet for any of the breeders on your list. If you do not have a vet picked out yet then the breeder selection process is the perfect time to reach out to a vet and start up a relationship. Your pet's good health is just as important to your vet as it is to you.

You can find out a lot about potential Siberian husky breeders if you just take the time to go through all of your resources. Another of those resources are local law enforcement officials. Local law enforcement can tell you if any of the breeders you are considering have a bad reputation with the law or not. Chances are you do not want to deal with a breeder that has a bad reputation with the law.
Sometimes you can take your list ofSiberian husky breeders and run it by the local animal rescue groups and see if they have any information to offer about any particular breeder or not. The animal rescue groups should have some sort of relationship with local breeders or at least be familiar with them. The animal rescue shelters are certainly not going to steer you the wrong way so you can trust their advice.

Choosing a Siberian husky breeder is extremely important so make sure you use all of the resources available to you in making this decision. Talk to all of the breeders as well and see if you feel comfortable with them or not. If there is a breeder you do not feel comfortable talking to then don't buy from them because you will be dealing with your breeder for a long time to come so take your time in making this very important decision.

This article will give you good information on avoiding badSiberian husky breeders. There are quick ways to spot a fake Siberian Husky breeder and as a responsible owner you should take the time to do enough research so that you can feel confident that the breeder you are dealing with knows what they are doing and that they will be there for you through the life of your dog.

The very first thing you should check is to see if the breeder you are dealing with is listed with a national breeder registry. Breeders listed with a national registry subscribe to a breeding standard created from years of research and experience. If the breeder you are talking to does not subscribe to a breeding standard then ask them why and be wary of that breeder.
Aside from your vet your relationship with your Siberian Husky breeder is very important to the health and well being of your dog. If you begin talking with a prospective Siberian Husky breeder and they do not seem to like to offer advice and support after the sale is over then that is probably not the breeder for you. A good breeder knows that they will be there for years to come and if that is not the feeling you get from the breeder you are talking to then it is time to move on.

When you leave with your new dog a good breeder will send you home with care and feeding instructions so you know how to take care of your new dog and offer the best for your new dog. You should also plan on leaving with a food sample as well, so you know what to feed your dog. If the breeder you are talking to does not offer these things then move on.
In many cases insurance companies will choose the most reputable of Siberian Husky breeders and offer new owners free pet insurance through these breeders. It is usually something reserved for only the very best breeders. The insurance company is hoping you will like it so much that you will pay to keep the pet insurance on your dog. Offering free pet insurance is a good sign from a reputableSiberian Husky breeder and not knowing what free pet insurance is can be a bad sign.

Make sure you take your time and choose only the best Siberian Husky breeder to deal with because that relationship with your breeder can be so very important to you and your pet. Check out all of the available resources and ask all the right questions and if you do not get the answers you need then do not be afraid to move on to a different breeder. It is a very important decision that takes time and patience.

If you need help finding goodSiberian Husky breeders then use this article. Part of the Spitz family, these dogs descended from sledding dogs used by Eskimos in the Arctic regions. Eskimo Siberian Husky breeders selectively bred huskies and, due to each Siberian Husky breeder being geographically isolated huskies maintained their close resemblance to wolves. Siberian Huskies were mainly used as sledding dogs and hunting companions. They required very little food for their level of activity and their high endurance allowed them to run for hours through packed snow while pulling a moderately sized load.

The American Kennel Club recognized the Siberian Husky as a breed in 1930. Since that time, huskies have been used more for show than sledding. However, the breed retains wolf-like physical and behavioral traits. Typical Siberian Husky characteristics include high-set, pointed ears, thick, double coats of fur, a furry, sickle-shaped tail, and wolf-like personality traits such as stubbornness, independence and suspicion. Siberian Huskies have distinctive facial markings, medium sized compact bodies, and blue or brown eyes (or one of each color).
Siberian Huskies have specific behavioral traits as well as physical traits. Some can be deciding points on whether or not a potential owner buys a purebred Siberian Husky. Every Siberian Husky breeder has a responsibility to warn and inform buyers of typical behavioral traits of Siberian Huskies. First, Siberian Huskies howl rather than bark, just like wolves. Their ululating howl can come as a surprise to an unsuspecting owner. Second, huskies are stubborn. They may be difficult to train and may only listen to commands when they feel like it. Third, Siberian Huskies are pack animals. They become depressed and destructive if left alone. They will also escape from a home, pen or yard and are capable of climbing up ladders and under fences. Fourth, huskies are energetic and need vigorous daily exercise. They can become ill if not exercised properly and they have a tendency to run, and to keep running, for miles if they escape the owner's home or leash.
Finding a goodSiberian Husky breeder can be difficult. There are a number of questions buyers will need to ask of breeders once they locate them to make sure they are reputable. Buyers also want to make sure that breeders ask them adequate questions.

Buyers should ask the following questions of Siberian Husky breeders:
Can I visit your kennel to make sure it is clean and appropriate? Can I meet the parents of the puppy? (the mother should be on-site/the father may not be) Have puppies and parents been screened for genetic defects? Is there a pedigree? (there should be a lengthy pedigree for any purebred puppy) Can you tell me about the breed? (breeders should be experts) Are you affiliated with rescue centers? (breeders should refer buyers to rescue animals) What are common husky health/behavioral problems? (breeders should educate buyer) How do I train/care for/discipline my husky? Is there a warranty?

Good breeders will take the dog back if the buyer cannot keep the dog rather than see the dog go to a shelter. Professional breeders will also quiz potential owners to weed out unqualified, unrealistic or unprepared buyers.

Siberian Husky breeders should educate potential owners about the positive and negative traits of this beautiful breed. The Inuit tribe bred the most handsome, bright-eyed huskies and relied on their dogs heavily as pack animals, guard dogs and hunting companions. The Siberian Husky was purebred in Siberia for hundreds of years and was exported to Alaska in 1909 to use for sled-racing. Today's Siberian Huskies are bred to retain the strong bodies, bright eyes and intelligence that the Inuit valued. The American Kennel Club recognized the Siberian Husky as a breed in 1930.

Modern Siberian Husky breeders attempt to retain the attractive and utilitarian characteristics of the breed. Siberian Huskies are members of the larger "Spitz" group of dogs and also have characteristics of this group. Typical Spitz characteristics are high-set, pointed ears, thick, double coats of fur (often white in part or whole), a furry, sickle-shaped tail and wolf-like personality traits such as independence and suspicion. Siberian Husky traits include all of the Spitz traits as well as distinctive facial markings, medium sized compact bodies, blue or brown eyes (or one of each color) and an overall wolf-like appearance.
Other characteristics required by the American Kennel Club include a height of twenty-one to twenty-three and one half inches for males and twenty to twenty-one inches tall for females, a weight of forty-five to sixty pounds for males) and thirty-five to fifty pounds for females, a scissors-bite (upper teeth closely overlapping lower teeth), a smooth gait, a friendly, alert and mischievous expression and an outgoing personality. The AKC does not disqualify the Siberian Husky for certain traits that would disqualify other breeds. These include bi-colored eyes, and "snow-nose" or a hyper-pigmentation of the nose in which part is black and part is flesh-colored. The reason the AKC does not disqualify the husky is that coloring is not seen as being important in pulling a sled.

Siberian Husky breeders try to retain both the attractive and utilitarian characteristics of the breed. Because of the breed's natural tendency to be extremely active, huskies are not recommended for everyone. Breeders will tell you that there are high numbers of Siberian Huskies sitting in shelters and rescue centers because owners did not research the breed and could not handle their dogs once grown into adulthood. The most common, problematic behavioral traits of huskies are a tendency to run or escape, excessive howling, hyperactivity, inability to be left alone, stubbornness and shedding.
Siberian Husky breeders will not sell purebred huskies to just anyone. In fact, breeders may have more questions for potential buyers than buyers have for the breeders. Because of the high incidence of abandonment of this breed, breeders will want to ensure potential owners are a good match for a Siberian Husky.

To find reputable Siberian Husky breeders, it is important to make sure they live in a cool climate as huskies are made for cold weather and can suffer heatstroke in high temperatures. Other traits to look for in a good breeder include the following: the breeder maintains their own kennels, their huskies have received appropriate medical screening and immunizations, the breeder does not breed huskies with known medical conditions or behavioral problems, they do not sell to pet stores or pet brokers, the kennels are clean and meet huskies’ training and social needs, they are experts on the breed and affiliated with purebred rescue centers, they have good references such as the AKC (American Kennel Club), they interview buyers to ensure they are a good match and they are willing and able to provide Siberian Husky information.

Siberian Husky breeders can educate potential owners on adequate training and care of huskies. They just seem to be very large because of their presence, and their close resemblance to wolves. They have the body shape, tail shape and ear shape as do wolves. Their brains are about twenty percent smaller than that of wolves and they are not physically capable of making all of the intricate facial expressions wolves can. And they are a lot friendlier than wolves.

Siberian Husky breeders try to breed their puppies to most closely remember the breed standard. A breed standard is a written or artistic description of an ideal representative of the breed (sort of like one of Plato's "ideals") ninety-nine percent of all Siberian Huskies will not comply with the breed standard in some fashion (usually in size, build or coat), but breeders try to get to that ideal as close as they can.
Siberian Huskies come in almost any color possible in dogs and even combinations such as red and white, pure white or pure black. They are to have a double layered coat that feels smooth and should be thick, but not long enough to make you wonder where the coat ends and the dog begins. The tail is to be bushy and in a sickle-shape. Although most famous for having ice blue eyes, they can also come in brown eyes, bicolor eyes and, believe it or not, irises which are half brown and half blue in one or both eyes.

Siberian Huskies weigh an average of fifty pounds (less than a Rottweiler or most German Shepherds), but males can weigh as much as sixty pounds. Males grow to twenty-three inches at the shoulder, females about twenty-two inches. Siberian Huskies will be disqualified from the show ring if they are taller than that, and there are many purebred Huskies who do grow too tall.
TheSiberian Husky often shares certain temperamental characteristics, which vary in degree from dog to dog. There is a breed personality listed as the official part of the breed standard that most breeders try to go by. Knowing the breed standard can help you determine if you can live successfully with a Siberian Husky. They are certainly not the right dog for everyone.

According to reliable sources on Siberian Husky information (owners and rescue organizations), Huskies are quiet, serious dogs who make very bad guard dogs. They need a lot of exercise or they will rip your house up. They need to see a point in obeying any command. This is a dog that can think for his or herself. You can't be wimpy around these dogs or they will boss you about. You might need professional training with a Siberian Husky. They are not recommended for first time dog owners.

TheSiberian Husky breed has very specific standards as laid out by the American Kennel Club. These dogs were initially bred as a sleigh dog. In 1909, the Alaskan dog drivers first raced these sleigh dogs when they were brought to Alaska to participate in the All-Alaska Sweepstakes race competition. In 1930, the American Kennel Club recognized these dogs and included them in their breed list. Later in 1938, the Siberian Club of America was established.

The Siberian Husky dogs have a distinct personality that combines both warm gentleness with exuberant playfulness. The gentle behavior of the Siberian Husky can be traced back to Chukchi's times since they bred these dogs with high self esteem, considered them as a part of the family and egged on their children to play with these dogs. Even today, this style of breeding has kept its mark with the special delightful appeal of Siberian Husky. Siberian Husky dogs, the great companion for people of all ages and different interests, are blessed with an alert and intelligent nature with adjustable temperament.
Although Siberian Husky dogs possess a strong fondness for the family they belong to, the dogs cannot be considered a one master dog. The dog is not at all afraid of strangers, rather offer greetings to the guest. Hence, it is not usually classified as a watchdog, although Siberian dogs may show their violence involuntarily. While building relation with other varieties of dogs, Siberian Husky usually maintains its warm, friendly attitude with royal etiquettes. However, if anything attacks it the Siberian Husky is a good defender and can face the attacker very well.

The Siberian Husky dogs have a strong predatory instincts. Prevalently these dogs show their warm and gentle attitude to other people and dogs, but you should maintain the highest possible precaution about other small animals such as squirrels, birds, cats, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs residing in the house. Because of their predatory instinct, these small animals can turn out to be victims of the Siberian Husky. These dogs are indeed good hunter with their speed, cunningness and patience.
Siberian Husky dogs do not need much attention since they have a instinct to stay clean. These dogs are covered with a dense coat of abundant volume. For these dogs, shedding usually occurs once per year.

Siberian Husky dogs are especially inclined towards digging holes and find it a favorite leisure activity. The dog is easier to keep since it requires much less food compared with its size. Traced back to early days, these dogs were fed with small amount of food in order to keep them active.
Siberian Husky dogs possess a strong instinct to run. Since early days, these dogs have shown their true inclination to run, as they are found to enjoy this instinct from true core of their heart. However, this tendency may pose a serious threat to their existence if indulged. You may consider a situation when they endure their running aptitude through a busy road. So, if you own a Siberian Husky, you better know how to confine it wisely in order to ensure its maximum protection. If you feel bad seeing dog in confinement the Siberian Husky may not be a good choice for you.

TheSiberian Husky is well-adored for its mixing ability to other varieties of dogs and new people. Perhaps you know of a family member who has to give up his or her dog, or came across a Siberian Husky in a local animal rescue public function. Siberian Huskies are incredibly beautiful dogs that perhaps you've admired from afar. But do you have what it takes to become a good Siberian Husky owner?

Siberian Huskies are not like most other dogs. They do not do anything and everything to please their owners. They are the lawyers of the dog world – they won’t do a thing until they see how it benefits them. However, they love company, especially among other dogs, but also have been known to get along well with children and other animals. They are usually wary with strangers and even tend to shy away from strange dogs. They are more serious in nature and not very silly.
You need to be aware of some Siberian Husky information before you bring one of these magnificent dogs home. They shed. They do very badly in hot, humid climates. They do very badly with the first time dog owner. They do very badly with timid people or the physically impaired. These dogs do not make good watchdogs, although they do bark on occasion. These dogs like to dig in your yard, so get used to it.

Siberian Huskies were bred to pull heavy sleds across ice and snow for hours at a stretch. Consequentially, they need plenty of exercise and at least a half hour walk every day in order to be anywhere near trainable. They need toys and a purpose to life so they do not get bored. Heaven help you if your Siberian Husky gets bored. They are escape artists and will destroy doors to get outside and find something to do.
Even though all dogs take their own time in learning anything, it generally is agreed in reliable breed information sources that Siberian Huskies take longer to train than most dogs. You must act confidently and speak firmly when giving commands in order to get their attention. Siberian Huskies will quickly bully a timid person, because they can see that a timid person does not deserve to lead a dog pack.

Siberian Huskies do not suffer fools gladly, but they will be loyal to the death for those they decide to follow. Siberian Huskies are not comfortable being leaders, despite their bossiness. They are more relaxed, less prone to loosing weight and engaging in bad behavior when they know their place. You must earn their loyalty through body language, persistence and positive reinforcement. This dog does not respect force or abuse of any kind. They either will defend themselves or (most likely) will become permanently frightened.

TheSiberian Husky can make a wonderful family pet if trained well at an early age.. For hundred of years the Siberian Husky breed was trained by the Chukchi people to pull sleds. As a semi-nomadic tribe the Chukchi used the Siberian Husky to pull light loaded sleds for long distances, which made the Siberian Husky an excellent companion for the tribe. Through DNA testing it was recently discovered that the Siberian Husky is one of the oldest living dog breeds. The Siberian Husky was finally brought to the United States in 1909 when it participated in the All Alaska Sweepstakes Race. After this a number of Siberian Huskies were then imported to Alaska and the breed won the same race in the following year. Not only did the Siberian Husky manage to win many different races in the years to come but it also managed to gain fame for both their great speed and endurance as well.
The American Kennel Club did not recognize the Siberian Husky as a breed until 1930. Today the breed is still widely used in various sledding, carting and racing events. If fact this breed is responsible for the popularity of these activities. Although in many events it is less common to see the Siberian Husky since they are being replaced by the Alaskan Husky which is bred specially for speed. Therefore, people have started a movement that holds races specifically designed for the Siberian Husky.

The Siberian Husky has new modern roles as a hiking companion, therapy dog or devoted house pet. The Siberian Husky is often confused with the Alaskan Malamute. However, since the Alaskan Malamute was bred for draft work, and not speed, they are identified by their heavy build. The Siberian Husky on the other hand has a very unique appearance. One part of this is their double coat, which insulates them from hot and cold weather. They also have long tails that curl over their back in order to protect their noses when they sleep.
The typical height for theSiberian Husky at the withers is between twenty-one to twenty-three and one half inches with the female being slightly smaller. For a female Siberian Husky the ideal weight is between thirty-five to fifty pounds depending on the size of the dog and the male can weigh about ten pounds more. The bone density of a Siberian Husky should be moderate and never slight or dense. The Siberian Husky should have a slightly longer size than their height. The Siberian Husky breed standard states that the dog should have an overall display of balance, grace and athletic study. The main eye colors are brown and blue but they can even be one of each and sometimes speckled. The eye color of the dog may be enhanced by a white mask around the face. Overall the facial expression of the Siberian Husky is described as friendly, alert and even rogue. White to black is the range of coat color and most are black or red with white markings or shaded gray. Although color isn't the main importance of the Siberian Husky, rather it is their ability to perform with speed, ease and stamina.

TheSiberian Husky has a long and distinguished history.
